Hi, I’m Rachal — plant-matcher, seed-whisperer, and newt-mother.

This is Tao, the little soul who walks beside me through every season of life.

He’s not just my cat; he’s my compass, my quiet reminder to slow down, breathe softly, and notice the tiny wonders in the world.Mai-Newt was born from the same place I hold Tao in my heart:

care, gentleness, curiosity, and a belief that small lives deserve to be nurtured.

We grow seedlings, yes — but more than that, we grow empathy, patience, and the kind of wonder that stays with you for life.

Every Newt, every lesson, every kit, every page on this site carries a little of us in it: my hands… and his steady, soft-pawed encouragement.

Leaving something to grow in someone else’s hands takes trust. Whether it’s a seedling, a flower, or a furry companion (I’ve spent years caring for both pets and plants), I believe what we grow with love grows best.

Mai-Newt began with a simple ritual: planting something small and caring for it every day — even when life was messy, even when the world felt too fast. Over time, I started to see each seed as a little soul: a newt — waiting, growing, leaning toward the light.

Now, I help others meet their own newts. Whether it’s a medicinal herb to calm your nervous system, a flowering friend for your windowsill, or a cactus with quiet resilience, each one comes with care, story, and a place in your world.

My Promise

Every Mai-Newt plant is grown with care in my small garden nursery. I learn what each one likes — how it drinks, how it leans, how it rests — and I pass that knowledge on to you.

You’re not just getting a plant. You’re meeting a companion.

Why seed to hand?

Because I grow each newt from seed (or cutting), and care for it until it’s ready to thrive in your hands. Some people adopt their newts as tiny sprouts and follow their growth month by month. Others choose full-grown ones, ready to root into their homes. Either way — you’re never just buying a plant. You’re part of its story.

seed to hand

It isn't a concept. Its my mission.

To plant a seed, and through wisdom, practice, patience & hope, deliver it into the hands of it's new carer.

From Echinacea to Native Juniper trees, my newts are chosen not only for their beauty, but for their purpose.

A Few Quiet Truths

I believe in slow growing.
I believe plants know when you’re gentle.
I believe naming your plant gives it more life.
I believe nature holds the medicine, and curiosity is a kind of wisdom.
I believe in the healing power of creation; the problems our pets help carry, the joy in discovering a plant is not only edible, but medicinal, and useful as a colouring agent & the humility in realising how small we are in this world.
I believe our lives are shaped by who, and what, we surround ourselves in.
And first and foremost, I believe every life matters.
My newts are small lives....with big dreams.
