Living Seedling & Soul Projects...

Because growing something small, changes something big!

Where children become caretakers, newts (seedlings) become teachers, and gardens grow more than just greens.

At Wigglewood Newt Academy, each Soul Project is carefully crafted for curious minds of all ages — from tiny tots to towering teens — and lovingly aligned with the Western Australian school semesters).

Whether you're learning at home, in class, or somewhere in between, there’s a Newt Kit just for you.

What's Included & How It All Works

When your Wigglewood program arrives, everything you need is already inside — no extra shopping, printing, or prep required.

Each kit is ready to open, unpack, and begin your journey together. Every detail has been carefully designed to make learning at home simple, nurturing, and genuinely hands-on.

Here’s how it works:

  • 1. Unpack your box

Inside you’ll find your child’s seedling (“newt”), complete with pots for each growth stage, Wigglewood’s custom potting mix, worm castings, tools, and a bag of Wiggle Juice. There are also journals, printables, and weekly guides tailored to your child’s age band.

Plus, a complete printed Parent Resource that leads through the program week by week. The resources are also available on the Wigglewood Hub if you require more journals, templates, or other documents.
    .................................................

  • 2. Visit the Wigglewood Hub

Your kit includes your private password to the Wigglewood Homeschool Hub — where you’ll find the full digital program, printable activities, project ideas, extension challenges, templates, and gentle guidance notes for parents.

The program has been designed to unpack the box, and literally start. The Wigglewood Hub adds to the program by offering extras.

    ..................................................

  • 3. Begin your learning cycle

Each week follows the same calming rhythm...

observe, record, reflect, adjust, and share.

You’ll move through STEM, SEL, and creative projects that nurture patience, curiosity, empathy, and responsibility — all mapped to the Western Australian Curriculum.

    ..................................................

  • 4. Relax and enjoy

No lesson planning, no scrambling for resources — just meaningful learning moments that fit easily into your week.

I’ve taken care of the structure so you can focus on the joy of watching your child (and their newt) grow together.

    ..................................................

  • 5. Celebrate each term

At the end of each program, your child receives a Wigglewood Certificate of Growth and the choice to participate in the next term's adventure.

From seedlings to stories, from curiosity to confidence — everything begins right here, in your hands.

    ..................................................

  • Growing With Every Term

Each Wigglewood age group—whether Wiggleworms (ages 4–5), Seedling Scouts (6–8), Budlings (9–11), Sassy Saplings (12–15), or Nearly Newts (16–17)—is designed to evolve gently over time.

While the age band stays the same, the themes, challenges, and learning focuses change every term, keeping curiosity alive and learning fresh.

A Wiggleworm in Term 1 might be discovering how seeds sprout, while a Term 2 Wiggleworm explores sunlight, water, and the magic of living systems.

This seasonal rhythm ensures that children who continue through the year experience new growth with every term—just like their newts.

Each stage builds on the last, helping children:

Strengthen their STEM, SEL, and creative skills,

Reconnect with nature through observation and care,
and find joy in seeing their own progress mirrored in the life of their growing plants.

Every box, every journal, and every challenge is part of one continuous, living story...rooted in patience, discovery, and a love of gentle learning.

The Soul Projects

A Soul Project is a Wigglewood learning experience where science and care intertwine.

Each child tends a living Newt — not from seed, but from life already begun — and through it learns that growth takes time, attention, and heart.

It’s education with roots, wings, and a whisper of wonder.

Each Soul Project includes a Newt, tools, stickers, pop sticks, journal cards, care guides, resources & more.

Age appropriate inclusions...

Journals

Every Wigglewood Newt Academy Soul Project comes with beautifully designed journal cards featuring the signature palette of each age group — part science log, part storybook. Here, children record their Newts’ growth, sketch their leaves, solve weekly prompts, and write whimsical tales. By the end of the term/semester, the journal cards bloom into a personal keepsake of learning and imagination.

Wiggle Juice & Soil Magic

Straight from the belly of the worms comes Wiggle Juice — the gentle tonic that helps Newts thrive. Alongside our custom Wigglewood soil blend, it teaches children about ecosystems, nutrients, and how even the smallest wriggles help keep the world alive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Collapsible content

What makes Wigglewood Homeschooling different from a regular science curriculum?

Wigglewood learning begins with care. Instead of starting with textbooks, we start with something living — a tiny seedling, a “newt.”

Through hands-on science, storytelling, and reflection, children learn to observe, record, and experiment while growing empathy and patience.

Each kit follows WA curriculum outcomes for Science, English, and Wellbeing, but it also nourishes imagination and emotional growth — things a worksheet can’t teach.

How do the age bands work?

Each age band matches your child’s developmental stage, not just their age.

Wiggleworms (Ages 4–5) focus on discovery and play, while Nearly Newts (Ages 16–17) work on independent projects and portfolios.

Children can move between bands if one feels too easy or challenging — it’s learning that grows with them, not ahead of them.

Can siblings of different ages work together?

Yes! Families often share a single kit. Younger learners might explore through touch and drawing, while older ones record data and guide the experiment.

The Parent Pack includes simple ways to adapt each lesson for mixed-age learning.

Do students need to start from the beginning (Wiggleworms)?

Not at all. Students can begin at any stage that suits their skills and interests.

Each age band stands on its own but gently builds from the spirit of the one before it — curiosity at every level.

Is Wigglewood recognised for homeschooling records in WA?

Yes. All Wigglewood materials are written to align with the Western Australian Homeschool Curriculum, with printable record-keeping templates and outcome references included in your Parent Pack and Wigglewood Hub.

Your child’s journal and reflection pages count as evidence of learning in Science, Design & Technologies, English, and Wellbeing.

How long does a single kit last?

Each kit is designed for one school term (around six weeks), with optional extension activities for longer projects.

The learning continues as your newt grows — some families keep their journals going for months afterward.

What if our plant doesn’t grow?

That’s part of the learning!

Wigglewood teaches patience, troubleshooting, and resilience.

The journals guide children to ask why something didn’t work and what they might try differently — which is exactly what scientists do.

(And we always include enough seeds for a fresh start.)

Do I need extra materials or tools?

No — each kit includes everything you need for that term’s projects: seedlings, soil, mini tools, care instructions, and access to your digital Hub.

You might like to add art supplies for journaling or photographing your child’s progress, but they’re not required.

Do we need internet access for the Wigglewood Hub?

Only occasionally. The Hub stores printable files, extension ideas, and Newt & Nonsense cards, but your core learning happens offline — hands in soil, eyes on growth.

How much time should we spend each week?

Most families spend around 2–3 short sessions per week.

Each activity fits naturally into daily life — watering, recording, sketching, and talking.

The emphasis is on steady, joyful progress rather than strict scheduling.

Can we continue during holidays or in between school terms?

Absolutely. Many families use holiday kits for relaxed seasonal learning.

Plants don’t stop growing when school does — and neither does curiosity.

If you ever feel unsure, remember: there’s no wrong way to learn in Wigglewood.

Every seedling teaches something — about patience, about life, and about love.

Can we use our own seeds but still access the Wigglewood Hub?

The Wigglewood Hub is reserved for registered families using official Wigglewood Kits.

Each term’s learning journey is carefully designed around the specific seedlings provided — from the way they sprout and grow to the way they link with STEM and SEL reflections.

Using your own seeds would mean missing key steps in the learning cycle (and it wouldn’t be fair to those who’ve purchased full kits).

But you’re always welcome to join next term — every season brings new newts to grow with.

Can I purchase seeds instead of a newt in my child’s kit?

Every Wigglewood Kit includes seedlings (“newts”) already prepared for success — nurtured in our care to align with your child’s learning program.

While we understand the wish to start from seed, our little newts are chosen for consistency, quality, and the gentle confidence that comes from watching something already living grow stronger week by week.

So, for now, kits come only with newts — never just seeds.

Can I receive the kit and pay it off weekly?

We know the desire to begin right away, but unfortunately, kits can’t be sent before payment is complete.

Each kit includes living plants and resources that are made-to-order, and we need to ensure they’re properly cared for and accounted for before they leave our hands.

If it helps, you can order closer to your preferred start date — and we’ll hold your place until then.

Everything in Wigglewood runs on care — of seedlings, of children, and of promises. 🌸
